What would happen if a transfusion of type A BLOOD IS GIVEN TO A PERSON WHO HAS TYPE O blood? The recipient will have a bad reaction. People with Type O blood can only receive type O - in order to prevent a possibly fatal reaction. Type O blood can be given to anyone regardless of their actual type (Type O is called the Universal Donor blood). People with Type AB can receive any blood type (Universal Recipient), be it O, A, B or AB. The person would need a blood transplant. The blood would be rejected by the body indicating to doctors that the wrong blood had been given. It is just as though a person had an organ transplant. they will die, type o can give to everything (type A,B,AB) but type o can only get blood from type o type O can be given to any other blood type so It will be fine if i remember correctly They'll probably die.
