Are there any Ex Jehovah's Witnesses that still reject the idea of blood transfusions?

Anyone that has left the JW's, but would not accept a blood transfusion, on religious or medical grounds, or both.

religious reasons
years ago.
through rape while i was pregnant, i miscarried, and was hemorrhaging, when i got to the hospital (hours later) and stated no blood trans only the alternatives,
i was in critical condition, red blanket, and survived...without blood...
when i woke up, first thing i checked was to see what was being pumped in, it was saline....
since then i have been pleased to see the medical community catch up to a smart idea.

Hmm.. Im not sure. But I think everyone should be informed about the bloodless surgery. Blood transfusion is becoming less popular due to associated risks. Even medical experts acknowledged that.

I am proud of the stand of JW regarding the issue with blood, since they've pushed medical expert to medical advancements. A lot of surgeon / hospitals now offer bloodless surgery due to this scriptural stand of JWs. It contributed a lot to field of medicine.

as much as current JW doctrine rejects the idea of organ transplants.
*smile*

I wonder when the Watchtower and Awake will announce the change of doctrine on blood transfusions as they did when it was decided organ transplants weren't a form of cannibalism and against Bible law?

Especially now that they're allowing ingestion/infusion of all parts of blood except all mixed together in its original form.

What an interesting question. I'm also interested to see the out-come!

For me, personally, I agree that the ban on blood transfusions is not a solid Biblical doctrine. Should it bother one's conscience, they should do what they believe to be right, without condemnation from and/or condemning others for their differing beliefs.

Yes, there are those who used to be Jehovah's Witnesses who although not practicing the religion for what ever reason will still refuse transfusions.

I have had several patients who took such a stand and were as you described, no longer JW's.

I have also had a surgeon and heard of surgeons claiming to be Jehovah's Witnesses. When finding out they were not, the reason they claimed to be was to avoid the transfusions.

Finally, I had a man who never was a JW but claimed to be one. Nobody questioned it because he only spoke Spanish. When hearing him use swear words in Spanish to one of the my aids, on further questioning, he was not a JW.

Interesting, his post op (day one after surgery) day one blood count was 5.7. Post op day two was 7.7 and he was discharged.

Hope this helps.

I reject blood transfusions or oral drinking of blood because I don't want someone else's blood in my body.

ewwww, yuk, disgusting, I rather die.

Nothing to do with religious reasons although obviously when I was a JW I had to believe the religious side to the NO Blood rules

Nope, my sister used to work at a blood bank and the people they let donate blood were scary crack heads the homeless basically anyone who had blood to give, they didn't care who the let in they just wanted to fill their quota so nope for that reason I wouldn't.

When you finally break free from this sect your eyes are then opened to the gross mis-interpretations of scriptures used by the JW's, including the blood issue.
I know many ex-witnesses and none still adhere to the society's teaching's on the blood issue.

Yes. One of my cousins, who never really was a Witness, though he was taken to a few meetings, doesn't agree with BTs, I think mostly on medical grounds, but also spiritual ones.

i am currently a jw.. but even if i were to leave, i would not take blood... there is lots of technology that hospitals offer where you an avoid blood transfusions. its not necessary. and it avoids many other health risks.

There are still risks involved with blood transfusions, organ transplants, antibiotics. But I would always accept them as a last resort, especially for my 8 year old son, if it will keep him alive.

I would if it were actually a biblical edict from God but since it is a gross misinterpertation of scripture, I have no problem with it.

Blood transfusions or sharing the blood is very dangerous.
The bible said you shouldn't.

None that I've ever heard of. As far as I know, JWs are the only sect that practices this, although I might be wrong.
