Jw's - Does Jehovah hate vaccinations as much as blood transfusions?

Would the Almighty use Holy Spirit to direct a human organization to print something like this?

The Golden Age 1921 Oct 12 p.17

Vaccination never prevented anything and never will, and is the most barbarous practice... Use your rights as American citizens to forever abolish the devilish practice of vaccination.

The Golden Age 1929 May 1 p.502

Thinking people would rather have smallpox than vaccination, because the latter sows the seed of syphilis, cancers, escema, erysipelas, scrofula, consumption, even leprosy and many other loathsome affections. Hence the practice of vaccination is a crime, an outrage and a delusion.

Is the kind of medical advice you would stake your life on?

Toxic - I understand your point, but the jw leadership has asked for ultimate loyalty to their medical views, at the expense of their followers.

Desert Rose - you didn't answer the question. That might be grounds for reporting...

Not anymore, but they certainly did hate vaccinations in the past. When viewed over the past several decades, the Watchtower has softened its stand considerably on medical issues.

For example, the Watchtower's current position on blood transfusions and so-called "minor blood fractions" is questionable. As a preliminary matter, we should thank God (and the men and women in the medical profession) that the need for whole blood transfusions is less than it was a few years ago.

Nonetheless, there are still times where a whole blood transfusion (or a transfusion of "major" blood fractions that the Watchtower doesn't allow JWs to take) is necessary. For example, blood transfusions are often a matter of life or death in the case of massive blood loss due to a car accident or the like.

It is interesting how the Watchtower Society picks and chooses which parts of the Bible to take literally. Here, they teach that Paul's command to "abstain from blood" in Acts 15 means to COMPLETELY abstain from blood...which means that God forbids blood transfusions.

OK, but compare this to how they interpret 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 where Paul commands women to "be silent in the congregation." Is the Watchtower consistent? Does it teach that this means to be COMPLETELY silent? No, they make some exceptions to this rule based on (in my opinion) reasonable scriptural interpretation.

Also it is interesting that the Watchtower has relaxed its position on blood over the past decade. A few years ago, they decided to allow JWs to accept certain "minor" blood fractions.

Where to "minor" blood fractions come from? They come from DONATED BLOOD! This blood is not "poured out on the ground" as the Bible says; rather, it is donated by non-Witnesses to blood banks. Thus, JWs take blood from blood banks, just like non-JWs...they are just required to separate that blood into what the Watchtower calls "minor" fractions.

At one time, jw's had no problem with blood transfusions, but could be disfellowshipped for getting even a single vaccination. Now, there is no injunction against vaccinations, but it is a disfellowshipping offense to receive a blood transfusion.
To make it even more ridiculous, at one time it was a disfellowshipping offense to get an organ transplant. Some jw's died refusing organ transplants as a result of this rule. Now, it is considered a "conscience decision" and is NOT a disfellowshipping offense. And again, at one time it was a disfellowshipping offense to accept blood fractions. Now, it is also a "conscience matter" and most jw's will accept those fractions.
Too bad for those jw's who refused vaccinations because the watchtower society said so, or for those jw's who needed an organ transplant and refused out of loyalty to the watchtower.
The watchtower society is truly "Bloodguilty"!!!!!

A program I watched on tv recently pointed out their opinion that the Aids virus was partly spread to the general population in africa by mass vaccination programs for diseases such as polio and the like, (the same needle being used countless times).
Having said that . . .
Jws used to be keen on talking about the seperation between church and state, I would suggest that this be extended to a seperation between medical practice and religion, as they dont have much to do with each other.

There are a lot of good shots out there that help a lot of people. But recently there have been a lot of poorly testing, rushed and even dear I say needless shots out there. We need them, be we also need them to be tested more and not to contain mercury.

I would never use that medical advice, I'm just pointing that some shots need to be tested more.

I remember there being an issue with Hepatitis shots too !

Why Quote stuff from 1929- you were not even alive back then... what do you care? Stop being Idiotic.

i don't know!

In reality when it comes to Jehovah's Witnesses, they don't care what Jehovah loves or hates. It is all about pleasing their governing body of NINE POPES in Brooklyn. The governing body determines what jw's are to think and believe and the jw's scramble like good SHEEPLE and do their best to do what they are taught to believe and to inform on those who do not.

Desert Rose is getting lazy. She is acting like the rest of the JW's on here and just deferring to the governing body.

Cuunnt-umdrum is being sarcastic. In 1929 this information was all the rage with the watchtowerites. But since the governing body cannot stick to any one teaching like they should, anything they wrote in 1929 is invalid. Like what is coming out on Sunday will be worthless in a few weeks months or years. Why not just throw Sunday's WT into the crapper today?
