How does one feel after receiving a blood transfusion? |
How does one feel after receiving a blood transfusion? Well, I have had several of them in the past year. I get a little itchy & run a low grade fever so I have to take a benedryl & tylenol other than that, feels like getting a regular IV. I am usually so sick that I am tired anyhow. probably woozy Ask Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones. He's had 2! Transfused! I get flu like syptoms and almost pass out....not fun plus i have a phobia of needles so im not a good blood giver... Most people feel no different at all during their transfusion. Some people develop a slight fever, chills or a rash usually due to a mild immune reaction or allergy that is easily treated by, for example, giving paracetamol (Panadol) or giving the transfusion more slowly. The nurses looking after you will check your transfusion regularly and ask you to tell them how you feel. Do tell the nurse immediately if you feel unwell. http://www.show.scot.nhs.uk/scotblood/do... |
