Has anyone breastfed after breast augmentation? |
My second child is due soon and I breastfed with the first and want to do the same for the second but this time I have breast implants. Has anyone had success with this? After you were done did you need to redo surgery from sagging or any other problems? I got my implants in 1999 (over the muscle, saline). I started to breastfeed my daughter but my supply was low. It is really hard to tell if it was because of the implants or because she was low birth wieght and may have had a weak suck. I would consult your plastic surgeon and a lactation consultant and see what their experience has been. I haven't had surgery to redo my implants but they are not really sagging as I only breastfed for two months. If it helps, I have heard of women who have successfully breastfed with implants, unfortunately, this was my experience. Good Luck! Check out the information and forums here for women who have had breast surgery (reduction, augmentation, lumpectomies, etc) I am doing it right now with no problems. I have had implants for 13 years ands my son is 6 months old. I don't think the implants will make a difference in the sagging, etc. My breasts look about like they did before I got pregnant. Of course I've had the implants for 13 years, and they are not as perky as they were, but they still look nice, so perhaps in a few years I may get them redone, or I may not. But having them has not interfered at all., and I have not once regretted my decision to breastfeed. It has been the best experience with my son. If your implants are under the muscle you should be able too. Breast implant surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America. You shouldn't have problems to breastfeed your baby because of the implants and there is no way to predict how are they going to look after you pass this stage (each patient is a whole world), but I am pregnant now and I wouldn't change the emotion and connection that you get with your baby with nursing :) |
