If my aunt's breast cancer metasized in her lungs or bone, what are the chances of survival?

We're still waiting on the test results to come in, but no one will anwer my questions and I can't find the answers on the internet. If the cancer has metasized or whatever, what does this mean?what happens next? can it still be cured? or can she even live for the next 10 years?

Well breast cancer is never really "cured" in the usual sense of the word. However even breast cancer that has metastasized can in some cases be managed for a long period of time. For some people chemotherapy can halt the spread of metastases and they can live a long time. Depending on the exact nature of the cancer there are some new drugs that have shown very promising results.

www.breastcancer.org has a lot of good info

If there is metastasis, her prognosis is poor.

Metastasis is when the cancer cells seed and grow elsewhere. It is a secondary tumour. She may not even live for the next 10 months, let alone years, if she has this.

I'm really sorry. I know about this because my mum has metastases in her brain and breast from small cell lung cancer, and I looked it up, as well as asking the doctor.

My only advice is this; leave your computer for a while, go find a family member or friend and say "I'm so worried, please can I have a hug?"

My very best wishes at such a stressful time in your life (and mine).

You aren't being very specific about the breast cancer.
Breast cancer that has NOT metastasized is treatable and curable.
Cancer that has traveled to the lungs or bones is usually not curable and time is short.
Don't think this way unless the metastasis has already occured.
If it has happened, say whatever is important for you to say to your aunt .
She won't live long.
My best friend died within 2 months of her cancer going to her lungs.
I don't mean to sound harsh, but you did ask, and this is as honest as I know how to be.
My heart goes out to you , your aunt, and your family.
