Can you get breast cancer at any age?

Can you get breast cancer at any age?

Breast cancer is quite rare in very young women.

It is a disease primarily of older women, with 75% of cases occurring in women over 50 years of age.

Only 6.5% of cases occur in women under 40 years of age, and a mere 0.6% of cases in women under 30 years of age.

Thus, in the U.S., only about 1,200 cases of breast cancer occur in women under 30 years of age each year.

So, while you can possibly develop breast cancer any time after puberty (after the development of breasts) it IS very rare.

The youngest documented case of breast cancer I could find online was of a 22 year old.

I hope this helps to answer your question. =)

You are very welcome!

yes, sadly you can. my mom and grandma both had it. my mom had it when she was in her 30's and my grandma had it when she was 68. which was last year.

It's extremely unusual for someone really young to get breast cancer. As long as you go to the doctor and get checked you'll be fine
