Is it okey to be pregnant even if i have a breast cancer?

A neighbor of mine was diagnosed wit breast cancer while she was pregnant with her son. She didn't get chemotherapy for fear that it would hurt the baby. By the time she had the boy her cancer had advanced to far for the doctors to help her. She died a year after he was born. So no I don't think it'd ok to get pregnant knowing you have breast cancer.

Pregnant women who develop breast cancer do not have worse odds of death or of cancer returning than other young breast cancer patients, a new study says.

The study, one of the largest to look at whether breast cancer hits pregnant and recently pregnant women harder, contradicts smaller studies that suggested maternity made things worse.

A breast cancer diagnosis is particularly terrifying for a pregnant woman because it presents complicated decisions about how to treat her and not harm the fetus.

In the new study, being published today in the journal Cancer, researchers analyzed data from 652 women ages 35 and younger who were treated for breast cancer at M.D. Anderson from 1973 through 2006. The group included 104 women with pregnancy-associated cancers 51 who had breast cancer during pregnancy, and 53 who developed the illness within a year after.

The rates of cancer recurrence, cancer spread and survival were about the same for the women with pregnancy-associated breast cancers as for the other women, the researchers found.

Radiation dangerous to a fetus is commonly used in mammography and breast cancer treatment. But ultrasound can be used to look for tumors instead. And surgery and certain chemotherapy can treat the cancer without poisoning the womb.

The treatment (if you are doing it or planning to) might harm the baby. But only a small % of children inherit brest cancer. I think around 80% of people get it and have no family history of breast cancer. When I said around I really do mean around. I don't know the exact %.

Chemo and pregnancy do not go together. If you are detected early take the treatment as the treatment is usually successful... have a child later... If you have some concerns save some eggs.

No.

The treatments for the cancer are incredibly harmful for the baby.

That is a question for your doctor, not yahoos.
