Has any body had pain in back and arm after breast cancer surgery with reconstruction from back? awwww bless you, hope you get well soon,im sure you will I have not obviously, but I wanted to wish you luck and a speedy recovery, you have been through a lot. ummm, just a hunch, but after all that you may have some discomfort Why not email me and we can talk about this in detail if you like. Could you be anaemic? It's common to feel more pain during anaemia. i have had surgery but not reconstruction. how long ago did u have the surgery? it could be infection or some after effect of the op if it was recent. whatever u need to check with your doc whether its normal or theres some problem. i would imagine with the trauma u have been thru its possible to get pain.i had mastectomy and the pain in my chest nearly made me faint for a few days, wasnt allowed much pain relief as i was pregnant, i was lucky however and have suffered no after effects. coming up 15 years in november an d still here to tell the tale. well done on coming this far and all the best for the future. You should have had a little discomfort for a couple of days following the surgery but actual pain is rare as they usually give you deep injections of anaesthetics to prevent it. If you are in pain talk to your surgeon, he is the person who can best advise you and offer you treatment. Check with the doctor to make sure it is not an infection or an internal bleed (hematoma) that needs draining...or something else...but it may be just time needed to heal. I had a mastectomy and it was very painful to esp get in and out of bed or move in general for awhile and then I did have a hematoma (internal bleed ) after they took the drainage tube out and it had to be drained with a syringe and needle. Just have it checked out by a doc. My reconstruction was with an implant, but four years on, I still sometimes have pain in my arm, especially if I'm using it a lot. Right after surgery (for a few weeks), there was quite a bit of pain in the arm, but not the rest of the area (lots of nerves are removed, some are severed, so you get pain in some areas, no feeling or numbness in others). Doing the exercises recommended by the occupational therapist helped a lot. I think it's always a good idea to check with your surgeon if you have any concerns. |
