Does Blue Cross Blue Shield of CT cover breast reductions?

Only serious answers please. I cannot find online if they do, so if anyone knows for sure, let me know. I really need one and just wondering if my insurance is going to cover it, at least a part of it.

I'm not sure of specifically CT but most major insurance carriers like BCBS have nationwide benefit schedules.

A breast reduction can possibly be covered if there is a medically deemed reason it's necessary. Determining factors usually are age, weight, body build, breast size in porportion to body, shoulder/back pain because of breasts, etc.

Check with your doctor, they can verify benefits for you or you can call the 1-800 number listed on your card, there's a benefits coordinator who can answer any of those type questions, they'll give you the exact coverage guidelines in your policy.

Also, be sure you're going to a reputable plastic surgeon, check references as well as the AMA and national association for plastic surgeons.

Good luck!

I doubt many insurance companies would cover it, unless the issue was causing you serious health problems. If they are your insurance provider, then call them and ask or look through the paperwork/booklets you should've received when your coverage began.
