Any doctors that would do a breast reduction to a 15 year old?

i am 15 years old and a 38 D. i have been trying to look for doctors with my mom sense i was 14 and we have had no luck. i have back problems a lot and not to mention the daily self esteem problems i go through. i wear ugly things i do not enjoy wearing. i cant wear cute bright colored shirts like everybody else because i look ridiculous and get made fun of. i know how i should wait untill i am 18, but i want to have a childhood and not miss out on things evey girl should be enjoying at my age. i wanted to know if anybody knew of any GOOD board certified surgeons who would be willing to do this in orange county or in the zip code of 90630. and also, i know what a big surgery this is and the recovery process and i am fully ready to do this.

You would have to check with PS's under your insurance plan, because if you go out of the network you will pay more out of pocket than usual.

What have you been told?? Who have you seen? Doctors, or PS's?

BTW, some people will say "noone would operate on someone so young" but that is totally untrue. I know plenty of 13-17 year olds that get breast reductions.

Keep looking, there will be someone out there.

wow. im so sorry girl... i doubt anyone would do breast surgery on a 15 year old because of ur age nd the risk...i mean ur breasts dont fully devolop until around 17 or 18 so i think they would have you consider waiting a couple more years until they fully devolop.

I know what you mean, I am 13 and am a 14 (teen size) C, and have to wear padded othersie my nipples show through.

What about wearing a bra size smaller?

a 38 D at 15years isn't really that bad, but i think it would depend on your body frame. Ex. if you have a small frame, then yes i would understand the pain, or if you are short and petite.

I believe docs will not do it now, not because you are a minor, its because you have not stopped growing. Breast tissue is nothing more than fat cells in the breast, which of course some of those cells are for future milk production. So, doing this early will not give you a true benefit.

Have your mom help you find and invest in a few good strong bras.
The wrong bra size contributes to alot of our back and shoulder pain, and posture. It may be a bit costly, but you can use those until you have your surgery. I am guessing you live in California? Most of those surgeons are for cosmetics anyway, you will want a doc specializing in adolescents, understanding your specific need, it is very different.
you may have to look outside of your state, or another city within your state for starters.
what has your doctor said?
your body had not finished developing at 16, so surgery now could even mean repeated surgery later.

My 21 year old sister was a size 38 D. She always had back and spinal problems causing her health care provider to spend HUNDREDS of dollars of pain pills and chiropractor bills. The insurance company was very happy to cover the cost of her reduction surgery...100%. Within 30 days after her reduction surgery all of her pains went away for good and she was able to stop taking the pain pills immediately.
She is NOW a size 34D now and much happier and healthier.
I think that doctors are reluctant to operate at your age, but the problem is only going to get worse with age. Keep looking for a qualified doctor...I am absolutely certain that Orange co. has a lot of qualified doctors to perform this procedure.
