Ques. for ladies who have had breast reduction...? |
I just got a BFP on the weekend! I have had a breast reduction with a nipple graft, and I was told that I would not be able to produce milk. That is fine, since the benifits of the opperation greatly outweighed the breastfeeding. Anyways, I was wondering if there are any pregnant moms or experienced moms out there who have had this, because I want to know if my breasts are still going to swell and get big and unconfortable anyways, or is that only caused by milk coming in? BFP means Big fat postitve! I tested positive. I also had a breast reduction about 7 years ago. The doctor who performed the surgery said there was still a chance I would be able to breastfeed, but couldn't say 100% whether I would be able to or not. Fast forward to the beginning of my pregnancy, when my first noticeable sign of being pregnant were my extremely sore and swollen breasts. They are still increasing in size but I have been told by my OB that we still won't know if I can breastfeed until the baby is born. Only one breast may produce milk, or both, or none. you may still produce milk the issue will be getting the milk from the ducts to the nipple and in your case with the reduction and grafting there is not a way to do so ...yes i would assume that your going to be sore and swollen for a few days or so until you dry out .....sorry but good luck anyhow I also had a reduction almost 4 years ago. It has been one of the best things I have ever done. Anyways, I am 6 weeks pregnant and my breasts are sore and very tender, typical of pregnancy. They also got sore around that "monthly" time, so while I won't be able to nurse, it seems like I will still get a lot of the breast problems experienced by most women. http://www.bfar.org |
