Breastfeeding/loosing weight? |
My baby is 4 weeks old and I breastfeed. I have been told that you will loose weight by breastfeeding. Is this true? How long does it usually take? you also need to eat healthy and exercise after you dr says you can You'll start seeing noticable results around month 4-6. uh, yes it is tru i went from a size 13 to a size 11 in a couple of weeks. that's the best way to lose weight healthy and mentally cuz u dnt have ta worry about wether that piece of chicken is goin ta ur thighs. I breastfed my son and did loose weight, but had a lot of water weight gain also. So I am not really sure how long it takes, but you do loose weight. Just make sure to eat healthy because what you are eating, so is your little one...Congrats :) Yes you usually lose more weight by breastfeeding, you are burning more calories by breastfeeding so therefore you will lose more weight. How fast and how much depends on the person. I gained 50 pounds during my pregnancy and lost it all within the first 2 months when I was Bf'ing. Yes, it was true for me and still is. You will start seeing it after about 4 months into it.. I am still losing weight slowly and each week, fitting into more and more things. I am not watching what I eat at all though.. breastfeeding also makes you hungrier. You can lose as much as you want though by combining exercise, such as walking, and watching what you eat in addition to breastfeeding. Good Luck. ;-) You burn about 300-500 calories a day breastfeeding. Of course, if you eat more (and let me tell you, breastfeeding made me HUNGRY!!!), you won't lose as quickly. I breastfeed my son who is almost 5 months old. I gained 35 pounds and had lost 30 by 2 months. I gained about 10 back though because he was collicky and I didn't get a chance to exercise. Now I do have a chance and have lost the 10 in about 3 weeks. The best thing to do is get regular exercise and drink tons of water, eat good too! You should lose weight right away. The more you breastfeed the more you lose. Yes you do loose weight but I'm not sure about how long it will take. I have an 8 week old and I gained about 30lbs during pregnancy. Within the first 4 weeks I had lost about 20lbs (clearly lot of that was baby, etc but even so). Since then I haven't really lost much weight but also I have not been restricting what I eat as I have found I am hungry all the time, though I am trying to eat as healthily as possible and my weight has stayed the same. I am the kind of person that normally puts on weight really quickly so I think that the BF is definitely helping me to maintain my weight, even if it is about 10lbs over pre-preganacy. Friends who have BF say the rest will drop off over next couple of months without too much effort if I keep up the BF but am hoping that exercising might speed it along a little! Breastfeeding burns about 500 calories, but if you eat more calories then you burn (from exercise, breastfeeding, etc) you will not loose and may gain weight. |
