How much do you spend on groceries for two adults, one of whom is breastfeeding, per month?

I am trying to figure out a budget for after my baby comes.

Thanks!

One is breastfeeding a BABY!
lol. My mistake!

Depends on where you live. Basically you will want to figure a little bit more than what you are paying now because you should be eating a little more than you are now (unless you are like me who gained nearly 100 lbs while pregnant-- in that case you will be eating much less). If that's not the case then take your current budget and add about $30-$50/ month.

My husband and I spend an average of $150-200 a month on groceries, plus we get about $60 worth of W.I.C. vouchers for myself since I am breastfeeding. You can try to get them now if you would like to save some money, since you will be breastfeeding. They can help with milk, cheese, eggs, peanut butter, cereal, and once the baby is born tuna and vegetables.

For diapers/wipes I would say we get a 40 pack once a week of newborn and a big pack of wipes 2 times a month.

Any questions, feel free to email me:)

Hee hee...I had to re-read this question a couple of times...I thought it read that one of the ADULTS were breastfeeding (not a baby LOL). We spend around $500 on groceries a month...but that is including diapers (for my older daughter who is almost potty trained) and formula (for my 3 month old son...we use cloth diapers on him). It really depends upon where you live. We live in an area where groceries are very expensive.

Remember, if your husband doesn't cook (like mine doesn't), you will be eating out/ ordering to-go a lot more than normal. I normally cook at our house, on a regular basis, but we did(/do) a lot of dining out the 1st 6 months or so after both of our children were born. Sometimes you are just too exhausted to cook!!

When breastfeeding, you should eat healthy and healthy is not cheap.

Your grocery bill should not be anymore than it was before. The recommended caloric intake used to be 300-500 extra calories but remember that women who live in famine breastfeed their children. You do not need to consume extra calories per say just the most nutritious food.

the same as you did before. i don't eat any different while breastfeeding. you only need a few extra calories (about as much as you get in a tablespoon of peanut butter)

I spend about $60 a week, so about $240 a month. That also includes formula though because I supplement with formula. We spend about $40 per month on formula. Subtract that and it's about $200 a month :-)

Around $400-$500.

$200-300/month on average

It depends which adult you are breast feeding? LOL

Normally the breastfeader would eat as regular as always. I don't think there would be a change in your budget.
