Breastfeeding with a plugged milk duct?

On my left breast I have a tender, painful spot on the areola and it hurts to nurse on that breast. There is no redness or swelling or visible lumps. Is this a plugged duct?

I've tried the usual remedies like moist heat and lots of massage, nursing my baby alot and emptying the breast but it's been almost a week with no relief! What else can I do?

Since there is no redness, it does sound like a plugged duct and not mastitis.

Keep doing what you are doing. When nursing baby on that side, use your fingers and push from behind the sore/plugged spot towards the nipple. Keep repeating that for several minutes using a circular or straight line motion. That should hopefully help to stimulate the milk duct in that area and help clear the clog.

If you go any more days though, I'd go see your doctor just to rule out infection.

Good luck!

I had a plugged duct. While in the shower i massaged the breast where it was sore while the hot water ran over it. It was painful. Then i pumped the breast with higher suction.(my pump allows you to adjust suction strength). It worked for me.
Also i had a white spot on my nipple that was very sore. I've never seen this before but, I popped it before i pumped.

there is a cream they make for it works great try it also you can extract some on your own to see if its blocked just squeeze your breast and while squeezing push down to the nipple

* How is there a thumbs down on something I've done with MY OWN experince

try pointing your babies chin towardds where the pain is coming from- when i get them i also squeeze a little on that spot while hes nursing
