Has breastfeeding gotten in the way of your sex life?

Since I've been nursing, the intimacy between me and my husband has changed. I was wondering if its the same all around.

As was said above, vaginal fluids may not come as easily due to the breastfeeding hormones, so it may take some extra foreplay or stimulation, though in some cases it doesn't really help.

And as for leakage... Sex is messy with or without leaking breasts, some men find it attractive, others don't, so depending on whether the bra comes off is something that may need discussing.

Alot of guys that i know who have had kids, aren't really bothered by it though, so thats a good sign.

*rollseyes* i don't think people even read around here without clicking thumb buttons.

How has it changed? I know that when my breasts are engorged they hurt more when we're intimate, but its not a problem when I'm not engorged.

It is usual for your breasts to leak while you're being intimate- it just means that oxytocin (your love hormone) is flowing. If it's something that's bothersome, you'll need to talk with him about it.

I would recommend going to an LLL meeting. You can ask questions like this there and talk with women dealing with the same thing. In fact, this topic came up a month ago at our local LLL meeting and you'd be surprised at how common it is- and you get all kinds of advice and suggestions.

When my kids were nursing, our sex life was definitely different. I mean, it required more effort, it just didn't happen easily. Part of that is hormones, I'm sure. But the other part is that I was just so freakin' tired! Sleep was far more appealing than sex.

Sometime around each of my children's first birthday, the sex drive came back, and all was normal again.

In some ways it did for me. The big factor is my episiotomy.

Alot of breastfeeding mothers have problems getting wet.

leaky boobs arent sexy either. i feel very unattractive right now that im nursing.

i have hope that things will improve though

you arent alone

pregnancy got in the way of our sex life, but once the baby was born it got back to normal, even with the breastfeeding.

Not us . . . I do have a weird rule of no over-touching the breasts though . . .

no, everything went back to normal once our kids came.
