Does breastfeeding help you lose your weight faster? |
I dont know if I want to breastfeed or not but i have heard that it helps you lose weight a lot faster. What do you think? sure does!! and it also helps your uterus shrink back at a phenomonal rate!! i put on over 20 kgs while pregnant, i gave birth on a friday, on the sunday i was wearing pants that i wore in my early pregnancy and now, almost 4 weeks after birth i am only 2 kgs over the weight i was before i got pregnant and i havn't been exercising at all. yes, usually it does, just by breastfeeding, you burn up to 1000 calories per day, but on the other hand, it also depends how much calories you take each day. i breastfed my daughter and within a year i lost twice the weight i had gained during my pregnancy. i also know women who breastfed and still didn't loose any baby weight, cause they also ate alotttttt and didn't exercise. I don't know what other women's pregnancies were like however, I lost my pregnancy weight fairly quickly. I breast fed for about 5 months. I would have kept it up longer however it became difficult with my job. From what I've been told is that breast feeding stimulates the uterus to contract more quickly. Well breastfeeding burns up a lot of calories, BUT you have to be upping your caloric intake of food too. So it's not really the time to be dieting! thats what they say .. but a lot has to do with your diet as well. Thing is when u breastfeed you will get more hungry than before .. even more hungry than when u were pregnant. So if u eat a lot of junk food while nursing .. u will gain weight !!! If you can focus on eating only the foods that are good for u and the baby and meet u're hunger pangs then yes.. with breastfeeding you will lose wieght Yes! That's why Ob/Gyn's suggest upping your calorie intake while breastfeeding! When you breastfeed, your uterus contracts back to its normal size, and that alone can make a big difference in weight. Make sure you eat right, though! And drink lots of fluids!! Not for me, it makes you hungry and you have to eat more to support your milk production, so I always stayed the same. In fact, my body reserved 5# of baby weight while I was nursing that dropped right off when I stopped. Yes, it does. However, many women eat many more calories and then claim that they didn't lose any weight while breastfeeding. for some it does, for others it doesnt. It didn't help me lose weight, but, apparently I'm an anomaly. It has been shown to help lose the baby weight faster. Plus, it is good for your baby. I don't know for sure but breastfeeding burns 500 extra calories a day...My daughter is 10 weeks old and I have lost all my baby weight plus 5 lbs...so I guess it worked for me. absolutely! it burns calories right off your *** :-) I didn't bf and lost all the weight.. Yup! My daughter is 6 months and I weigh 6 pounds less than I did before I was pregnant...plus it is super good for the baby. If you do breastfeed, you should do it for the sake of the baby, not your own... Yes, it does. YES!! Within 6 weeks I dropped it all without trying. Just be sure to eat healthy. it sure does! breastfeeding burns an extra 500 to 1000 calories a day!! Yes it does. Indeed it does!!! :D it does. that is what they say , but so far did not help me... |
