What can I use to boost my energy levels while breastfeeding?

I'm breastfeeding and have very low energy levels and don't want to ingest too much caffine. Is there an alternative?

When i breast feed I would make a thick half peanutbuter sandwich and drink a glass of milk. works wonders.

eat more! No kidding. You've got to keep your calorie levels up or you'll just feel like a slug.

Another really great thing that has made a huge difference for me is to take a B-complex vitamin supplement. B vitamins are water soluble, so if you don't get them in your diet daily, they get peed out. You should notice a difference the first day you take one. Just be sure to take it with food, and also take your regular multi-vitamin.

I agree with Hi-itsgw. B-complex and multivitamin works wonders for me too. Eat or drink high protein foods and drinks. I drink Shaklee vanilla Energizing Protein mixed in OJ 2-3 times a day for extra boost and I swear its better than coffee! Also, drink a lot of water. If you can, schedule a nap time when baby is sleeping. I hope this helps.

I'm new to breastfeeding... only 5 weeks now. but I find that eating a small snack right before you nurse it helps a lot. I eat peanut butter crackers and a bottle of water by my rocking chair. Plus a book and the phone.
