Is it normal that you can start your period 7 weeks after having a baby and is breastfeeding? |
i have my baby 7 weeks ago and is breastfeeding and yesterday i started my period. The weird thing is that i herd people said when your breastfeeding your not suppose to get your periods for several months or even a year. does anyone have a clue? It sucks when you're not part of the majority for stuff like this, huh? Its not a "real" period. That's what I thought too (you wouldn't get your period while breastfeeding for months or up to a year) but that's not the case for everyone. I was 8 weeks when I got my first period and I was breastfeeding. I was so worred, I took myself to the ER because I thought I was hemmoraging or something! I got checked it and it indeed turned out to just be my period. Nothing to worry about. It's unique for everyone. All women are different. Though many women find their period is delayed due to breastfeeding, it is not a sure thing. I am also exclusively breastfeeding. I have experienced various spotting episodes (maybe a period). I'm sorry you're one of the unlucky ones :( happened to me...at least I think it was a normal cycle...I stopped bleeding 5 weeks post partum...at 6 weeks my husband and I were intimate and the next day I started again...it lasted a week and was heavy doctor said it was a period. At 9 weeks postpartum, BF and on the pill I am still experiencing some light spotting...it's different for every woman. BF is not always a guarantee of a delayed return of your monthly cycle. Not getting your period while breastfeeding relies on many factors. You have to breastfeed a certain amount of times per day and no more than 4 hours in between and there's a few other stipulations because your body has a natural birth control method when your breastfeeding but again all the rules. I got my period back when #1 was 3 months...#2 was 4 months. unfortunately it can be normal. I started at 7 weeks also with my first baby and I was nursing |
