I have a 1 month old and am breastfeeding, should my husband and I use protection even though I haven't?

started my period? What are the odds of getting pregnant? If so can I take birthcontrol pills while breast feeding?

Just because you are not menstrating doesn't mean that you are not ovulating! In fact, your body is in major fertile mode right after baby, so the odds of you getting pregnant again are very very good!

You can take birth control pills - a mini pill I believe it's called and it's compatable with breast feeding. Another option would be an IUD.

Good luck and play safe .. unless you don't mind!

You can take the mini-pill, but it has to be taken at the same time each day. Being late by an hour is the same as being late by a day. If you miss it by 3 hours, you have to use back-up protection. Definitely use some form of protection even if you haven't started your period. I know enough people who have gotten pregnant in less than 6 months after their baby was born to where I never take my chances.

seriously consider all your option's,fiances, living condition's,heath?.because the chance's are as high as they were before you became pregnant the previous time.first call your o.b. and ask him what kind of birth control can be taken while your breastfeeding, not all oral forms of prevention can be used like the mini pill.i personally would use condoms so the chances of anything causing my newborn to become ill or suffer from a sever allergic reaction are reduced.whatever you and your husband decide i wish the best for you and your family, have fun!.

Yes you should use protection---I say this not because I'm a doctor or nurse but because I was conceived when my older brother was about 7 weeks old ROFL.

Why take birth control pills? You just had a BABY why not give your body a break and let it do the hormonal things it is supposed to be doing right now? Seriously, why risk messing up your milk and stress out your body---because the pill makes it think you are pregnant and nursing at the same time...

Have HIM wear something!

Sorry if this seems rude, I am just amazed by some of my girlfriends who wanted to jump back on the pill right after their kids were born instead of having daddy make the effort and be responsible for preventing another kid.

Congrats on the baby and best wishes to you all :)

Yes!!! Use some kind of protection or you will be pregnant again! You can take bc pills but they make your milk supply go down some. Talk to your Dr about the kinds of bc pills for breastfeeding moms. I plan on using the IUD kind when I go in for my 6 week check. They have ones with one hormone only not the standard two hormone kinds. This is the best for nursing moms.

yes you should use protection. My step-sister thought that she could not get pregnant if she was breastfeeding and ooops. she was pregnant just a few months after her 1st baby was born!
I would talk to your dr. about some birth control pills that you can use or use condoms right away!!

Unless you are ready for another one now - use some for m of birth control.

Chances are smaller if you are breastfeeding but not impossible. I have a very close friend that has children 10 months apart - she exclusively breastfed.

Yes, you should use protection.
Yes, you could get pregnant even if you don't have your period yet.
There is one brand of birth control pills for nursing moms, ask your doctor.

50/50......are you ready to have two babies at once...careful

Be careful. I got pregnant when my daughter was 3 months old. You're very fertile after a baby.

yes you should use protection - breast feeding is NOT birth control

If you don't want to get pregnant again..
use something

Talk to your doctor .

There are a few birth control options for breast-feeding moms.

don't worry too much, but maybe use a method such as withdrawal, so that you still won't get pregnant. but you could!
