Is it true that crying and breastfeeding harm the baby??

I have heard a lot that when u cry and breastfeed the baby it harms them is it true or just a myth???

Thank you all for responding it anwser my question specially cuz I have a mother in law who hates when breastfeeding mothers feed the babies while cryng or after...thank again so now I can tell her it's not true!

I think its just a myth..when I was pregnant, I would always cry and be said for alot of personal reasons..main one is hubby not being there for me..but anyway yeah I heard that I shouldnt be like that because it's bad for the baby and all this other stuff. It's not true, my baby is never mad or sad. Hes always laughing, smilling, giggling, and screaming for joy. Hes only 7 1/2 months.. Don't worry, I personally think it's a myth..If you need to cry..then do it hunny

Sometimes you just have to cry and get it out. Breastfeeding can even help you feel more loved and get you feeling better again quicker, so I would not avoid nursing just because you are sad. And I would not try to hold back crying just because you are nursing. The tension of trying not to cry I would think would be worse than crying while nursing. HTH!

I have never heard that I think it's a myth. I have cried many of times while nursing. I cried in the beginning when it hurt and I had thrush and problems with her latching. I cried becasue I was happy when we finally got everything right and I was nursing pain free. I cried when I made it to my 6 month mark. I will probably be crying again before long cause I have made it 1 full year. I'm a great big sap lol.

I only cryed with my first child who is now 3 years old. But he turned out fine and he is always happy and trying to help me with my younger childer (15 months and 3 months). I did not brestfeed any of them but I'm sure that that would not afect them in any way. I would just try to be as calm as possible when you brestfeed. I guess that that might even help have the baby latch on longer too! I would try to have your husband try to comfort you as much as possible while brestfeed. It can be VERY streesfull at time but youll pull through!
good luck!

No this isnt true. I had three of my grandparents die in about two months. I went to all the funerals and sobbed for most of the two months. My baby was fine. Just a little damp from time to time because of all the tears! He was fine and really helped comfort me in my sad time. MYTH

I don't think it's true. I think it's a watered down version of the idea that extreme stress is bad for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Crying isn't going to hurt anything. Everyone cries, including breastfeeding moms and it's certainly no reason to stop nursing.

I don't see how it could be true. It's perfectly normal to be very emotional after having a baby- for many months to come! Your emotions can't affect breastmilk... that doesn't even make sense. Breastmilk has so many wonderful advantages for baby- don't give up because your sad!

Im sure it does not harm the baby but the baby can feel your stress. This can cause the baby to refuse the breast. Try to feed the baby while you are calm and in a place where you will not be bothered
