What is the best birth control for a breastfeeding new mom??...?

and are IUDs as painful as they sound?

IUD's are not painful once there put in. I had mines for about 4 yrs. it was the best birth control method I have ever used. The only complaint i had is when having intercourse depending on the position my fiancee would end up bumping it. Other than that is was great, I will definetly get one again after having another baby. You might also want to discuss the "Depo shot" with your Dr. as an option as well.

As for any other birth control the doctor will prescribe you a birth control pill that you can use whiist breastfeeding. My doctor prescribed me one, the minipill and it has worked wonderfully. With the low hormone doses it will not effect your milk supply or effect your baby.

Once your milk flow is established at 6 weeks, you can take the mini pill...which is a progesterone only pill and is perfectly safe for nursing mothers.

I tried to get an IUD but my cervix would not fit it...which was weird. So instead they put me on the POPS birth control pills. Once I stopped breastfeeding I was put back on my normal BC pills.

condoms! you can't use birthcontrol while breastfeeding

IUD's are not that painful. There was some cramping at insertion but not worse than a normal period.

NO SEX is the best B. C. anytime.
