Should children wean themselves from breastfeeding?

Do you believe that when your child is ready they will wean themselves, even if that time doesnt come for almost a decade?

I Believe that breastfeeding till a year old is good but beyond that is kinda weird to me cause they are suppose to be on a sippy cup by one and on cows milk .

A child should be weaned by or around the age of two. By that age, the two of you have bonded as only breast feeding can do. It is unfair to the toddler to have him go around wanting his mommy instead of using a sippy cup. Remember it is the toddler that you should be thinking of and not the fulfillment you feel by breastfeeding. Please make sure there is no pacifier. Hope you enjoyed these first two years of bliss with them.

I believe that kids will wean themselves, if allowed to. I don't believe that kids WANT to nurse until they are eight unless some dynamic has been created by the parent.

I've nursed seven kids, and not one of them continued past their second birthday, they were too busy playing to waste time nursing.

I believe in self lead weaning. But only as long as the mother is happy too. I fed my twins till 2.5 yrs. My son weaned himself, my daughter fed for another month but by then I had had enough so I made her wean. Everyone to their own I say but I feel it needs to be when the baby is ready....
As to the first answerer. You can't make a baby/child feed. They will only feed if they want to. Mine still drank water from a cup and they used a dummy (pacifier)

i say let them wean themselves but long as it before they start school so they don't get made fun off

it depends. the best time to wean a child is 1-year old above.

Yes, I'm confident that my sons will wean when they're ready. I just take it one day at a time.
