I think I may have breast engorgement but I gave birth 5 months ago. Is this common? I am still breastfeeding? |
My baby is starting to sleep longer during the night so I am feeding less often. Could this be why and do you have any tips on what I could do. If you're still breast feeding and have not been breast feeding as frequently as before, you definately will be getting some engorgement. Sure. If DD doesn't "feed" enough at night, I'll wake up wishing to gawd that she would wake up so I can feed her, Lol. You can get engorgement any time while nursing, but true, it's rare once a regular feeding schedule is established that you'll get engoraged, but it happens. Your baby might have just had a growth spurt and now isn't needing as much (but he's sleeping a lot for example). It'll all work out. Totally normal, I'm going through the same thing at 4 months. Your body will eventually adjust to the new schedule. For now, relieve a little pressure by pumping or hand expression if it's not time for your baby to eat. Don't totally drain it though, your body will think your baby needs that milk, think supply and demand. i dont think so ur feeding still if u were engorged you wouldnt be able to breastfeed it would hurt to bad go to the doctor and check it out that way i think ur trying to dry up it happened to me early best advice just go to a doctor and talk to them good luck YOU SHOULD USE A BREASTPUMP.. THIS WILL RELIEVE THE ENGORGEMENT. MY DAUGHTER IS NOW 8 MONTHS AND I STILL GET ENGORGED AS WELL. BUT I HAVE BEGUN PUMPING WHEN I WAKE UP EVERYMORNING. WORKS WONDERS. GOOD LUCK Usually it takes less than a week for your supply to adjust. |
