DD is 1, still breastfeeding, and I want to get pregnant again, but AF hasn't returned. What to do?

I know it is possible to get PG before your period returns, but is it probable? My daughter just turned 1 and we'd like to get pregnant again. So how can I tell when I am most fertile? I used ovulation test kits with No. 1 but temps and anything else is new to me. Advice, please...
