Breastfeeding and menstrual cycle? |
I didnt get to ask my ob this, but why is it when you breastfeed you dont get your period? Are you ovulating? Can you get pregnant? I think its awesome that I wont have a period! Is that true? I will take a stab at this because I was wondering the same thing after the birth of my two children. My OB explained to me that for some reason when you're nursing it send signals to your brain and uterus that you are still pregnant so you want have a cycle, but as soon as you stop nursing, her comes that uninvited visitor. :0) And yes you can still get pregnant, actually you can very easily get pregnant again! Don't think it's a good idea to have sex without protection because you are breastfeeding. It's a misonception and several women have gotten pregnant thinking they couldn't because they were breastfeeding. I'm sure you don't want another one so soon. Yes this is true and you are very lucky but once you feed the baby something other than your breast milk somehow your system knows and your period will come. Hope this helps.
