Am I the only one who didn't enjoy breastfeeding?

It didn't make me feel more of a bond with baby (I already had a strong bond anyway)
It killed me when baby started feeding
It killed after when my boobs filled back up - i would cry in pain for an hour despite being on painkillers
I felt like a cow and could get nothing else done
Baby was always hungry and never satisfied

I gave in after 5 weeks and baby was instantly happier on formula...as was I.

Am I alone?

My baby is 1 yr now. I just always wonder as many of my friends feel the same as me, but on Y!A it seems most people love it.

Nope. You are not alone. I know it's said your baby is getting enough milk, but I never thought so, for that reason I pumped a lot so I could see how much milk my babies were getting.

With my first born, I tried and tried and tried (and tried). The lactation nurse said "claimed" I was doing it correctly, but it never felt quite right. I eventually put him on the bottle, but tried to breastfeed on the side. However, once the bottle was introduced he seemed to prefer it - he loved it - seemed instantly happier and more gratified. From that point on with him - I breastfed very seldomly. He's 10 now btw. lol!

My 2nd born, I instantly got her to latch on famously within about 1/2 - 1 hour after her birth. She did good for a while, (for a few months) but then the same problems. Always seemed hungry, didn't want to breastfeed so much. I eventually put her on the bottle - and she was instantly happy. She is 1 now, and infatuated with breasts but I cannot breastfeed her, as she bites nipples hard or pinches very hard.

I've heard stories of mother's loving it, but not me. I don't like to "force"my babies if they are not wanting it - I'd rather just give them a bottle.

I did not breastfeed(not to say we didn't try though) but I think every woman finds it different. Some women really enjoy it and it makes them feel a certain way...some women enjoy the fact that they are nourishing their baby, some women don't like it but suffer through it because they know it is best. Some women just don't or can't suffer through because it doesn't make them happy at all and resort to formula. I think there is nothing wrong with any scenario. Every woman is going to think and feel differently about all aspects of parenting. Good job for making it 5 weeks!

No, I hated it, and didn't continue. It was so painful, I hated when my baby would wake up hungry.

I loved breastfeeding. My baby even had thrush and it had traveled to my nipples. Every time I fed, I was in horrible pain, but it was still relaxing.
To me, I had the same feeling for breastfeeding as when I felt the baby move. I was amazed that something so small could love me and rely on me as well as trusting me so much.

I didn't really enjoy it either but did continue. We are still going at 13 months. I cut my son down to 2-3 times a day after 12 months and I am finally enjoying it. He loves it and always has, he wouldn't even take a bottle.

I do have a friend that felt the same and I have another that absolutely loves breastfeeding.

Now that it's just a few times a day and not 15 times a day I feel like I am going to miss it when it's over.
