Do those who push breastfeeding and make you feel bad if you dont' breastfeed irritate you?

Ok so..I chose to formula feed my daughter because I wanted her father to be able to get close to her also while feeding...I wasn't at all worried about how "she could be sicker because i formula fed" because my mom formula fed all 6 of her children and none of us were sicker and we're not dumber either...Now my daughter is a healthy and thriving 15 month old who's extremely intelligient, not sickly, etc. Yet, I just keep hearing how bad a mother I am for not breastfeeding and how my daughter is going to be dumb and sick and I'm just so irritated by it because none of it is true. I don't bash ppl who want to breastfeed their children but they can't seem to stop bashing me. Does this irritate anyone else? Their baby isn't superior to mine just because they were breastfed and their not a better mother then me for it. Being a good mother comes from the heart and as long as the baby is healthy and happy then why can't they just let it go.

Yarr-That is my exact point...the nutritional value in formula has gone up so much that there is little difference and yet somehow ppl can't understand that

It wasn't an excuse it was a choice...one that I stand behind 100%. I did it because it's what I wanted for my family as a whole.

I don't consider people who think they are experts just they were a walking milk bottle the kind of people who's opinions would matter to me at all. I consider scientist and studies that have researched the difference between breast milk and formula opinions that matter to me. Scientists say that the difference (in this day and age) between formula and breast milk is small at best. They both provide appropriate nutrition. The only difference is the breast milk provides antibodies, but the antibodies only matter if the child is exposed to the sickness. We know what causes sickness now, we can avoid it. And even if a child becomes sick (and even breastfed babies become sick sometimes) our medical technology can handle it.

people who judge women who did not breastfeed are idiots. formula has not hurt my kids at all and all of them drank it. i was a woman who wanted to breastfeed but didn't because my kids made my breasts bleed and my doc told me to stop when he saw my problem. and even if i would have been able to breastfeed i would never give mothers who don't a hard time. breast feeding is not for everybody!

I breastfed but I actually get irritated when breastfeeding moms look down on formula-feeding moms. Some moms are just self-righteous and will think badly of anyone who formula feeds/spanks/doesn't feed their kid organic veggies/etc. Just shrug it off.

I was under the impression that intelligence was hereditary and not the result of what you were fed as an infant but what do I know I was formula fed therefor I must be an idiot right : )

Those who do that are just ignorant.

It irritates me but not too much just because their opinion means nothing to me.I know I am not a bad parent.

There are PLENTY of formula fed babies who are hardly sick and are smart.Yes, breast is best but formula will not kill your kid.My kid was 50 breast milk 50 formula and he is a smart kid well above average. He also has had very few colds.Never a stomach virus.

I won't be breastfeeding because I just plain don't want to. Just imagine the torment I'll get, maybe it'll make you feel better. XD

For me, formula feeding just seems simpler. I understand some women feel that breast feeding is simpler, and that's fine, but I don't think so. And having been raised on formula myself I don't really feel like it's as big of a deal as people make it out to be. Nobody makes a fuss about what you feed your kids once they're school age, but DEAR GOD is there ever a fuss when they're babies! If it's not your business when they're 10, why is it now?

Why didn't you just pump most of it, so your husband can feed her a lot too? Breastmilk is best, study after study after study....

You didn't breastfeed because you wanted you husband to be able to feed her too, VERY lame excuse:) Just my opinion.

Actually RESEARCH shows breastfed babies have higher IQs and are over all healthier. It doesn't reflect on you as a parent. But if you are a stay at home mom that chooses not to breastfeed, well, now that's crap!

You wanted for your family as a whole? WTF? How about you newborn deserving the best, I guess not for some mothers...

Breastfeeding isn't for everybody... ummm, yeah its not supposed to be it's for the baby. My nipples bleed to. My daughter was 6 weeks early and it took a while for her to get the hang of nursing. The first 2 weeks I had to pump every 2-3 hours during the day just to keep my milk up, I worked VERY hard to make sure I was able to continue breastfeeding my daughter. I am proud to say she is 19 months and still nursing. The World Health Organization recommends nursing until at least 2 years. The AAP recommends at least the first 12 months...

Obviously you didn't understand. Breastfed baby have higher IQs. That's great you have a high IQ and were formula fed BUT your IQ would be higher if you were nursed like nature intended:)

If you are working full time formula feeding you kid is a little bit more understandable:)

Can you post the site with the article that claims formula is just as good as breastmilk. lol would love to read it!
