Is it okay to take BACTRIM DS while breastfeeding a 2 month old? |
I have a staff infection and have been prescribed Bactrim ds for 10 days. I am nursing my 2 month old and am concerned if it is safe or not. My doctor has assured me it is okay since he is not less than a month. My baby's ped. tells me it is not safe and shouldn't be taken while nursing. Who is right? What should I do? Help! thats when it is second opinion time. Go to another doctor tell them what the babys doctor said and try to come up with a solution because that can not go without being treated. you should ask the pediatrician, to make sure, because they would know more about your baby then anyone on here!!! I cant believe there is such a discrepency in the right answer. I personally am not familiar with this particular medication. I think you should go with the pediatricians advice. He is the one that specializes in your babies care not yours. Talk to them and see if there is something else you can take that is not harmful to the baby. And if there is nothing else than maybe you can try get enough milk together to freeze for the ten days, or substitute some of the feedings with formula. The best of luck to you and your little one!! I would listen to your pedi. since he specializes in children. |
