Is there really any relationship between breastfeeding and breast cancer?

I have heard a thousand times that women that do not breastfeed or start breastfeeding late stand a greater risk of breast cancer. I wonder how true it is.

There is a correlation between breast feeding and a decrease in breast cancer.A group out of Boston did a study of 9000 women and found that not only does it decreases breast cancer but,it does not matter what age you start.Drs.have known for a long time that breast feeding at a younger age provided some increased protection from breast cancer. This study proved that no matter what age you start breast feeding, you will get the benefit.
Women who breast feed are far less likely to develop breast cancer.
The phrasing of that "rumor" is less than accurate. The correct relationship is that women who breastfeed have a reduced chance of developing breast cancer. Additionally, the longer a woman breastfeeds, the more protection the breastfeeding provides. Basically, breastfeeding serves as one protective factor against developing breast cancer. Other factors include diet and exercise.

all the so-called experts say that women have a less chance of developing breast cancer if the breastfeed their babies it has something to do with the milk glands.
My friend's mom breastfed all 3 of her kids and she still developed breast cancer in her late 40's. Basically - it can happen to anyone at anytime. Just go for yuor check-up exams and live a healthy life.
