Is it ok to just say 'no' to caregiving somebody? |
sick and tired of taking care my boyfriend who has cancer, i want to find my own happiness, can i just say no without feeling guilty? both 25 yrs old You are burned out for sure. Look and see - has your love died completely because you have had to become his caretaker? Or, if you had help, is there any chance you cou;d be happy again with him? Is he going to recover? This is normal for people who are the sole caretaker. Your love can get killed off. Have you talked to him about this? I know you are in a bad way. I can hear that you want out, and you want to live and love. But if he meant something to you, I would say you need to be straight and honest that you can't do this anymore. I doubt you want to leave him with no one to care for him. Help to find the replacement so you can have a clear conscience. Oh, you'll feel guilty alright. You get one life. You choose. hard question...u r still young but yet it seems u have already accepted such a huge and overwhelming responsibility...now there r somethings to consider...morally, personally...can u if u say no live and stick to that decision?...on the other hand...legally...do u have a fiduciary responsibility to him?...meaning if u're living together and he pays for most of everything and u don't then as a "payment" for to make up for the lack of payment it is understood that u take care of him...that's how the law will look at it...i think u should ask for help as u clearly cannot do it by urself...u probably r stressed which is turning into frustration...i'm sure there r probably programs or nurses that can come to u n help u out a bit...i'm sure he doesn't want to be a burden on u anyway...the best thing to do is appreciate the time u have left together...u don't want the last feeling u have towards him as resentment or frustration...gud luck to u and him... |
