Are biopsies to check for cervical cancer common? |
A friend just called me flipping out because she has to have a biopsy to check for cervical cancer. She didn鈥檛 have much time to talk, but she鈥檚 supposed to contact me later today. I鈥檇 like to be able to tell her this situation is relatively common, but truthfully I don鈥檛 know that it is. This poor girl is already under a ton of stress as her marriage is falling apart, and I don鈥檛 really know what to say beyond 鈥淭ry to stay calm until you have the test and get the result.鈥?/div> It happens more commonly than not. My mom had to have one after an abnormal pap smear cause she has HPV and she had some cancerous cells on her cervix. But they are all gone now. It's something that if caught early enough, it can be prevented. i have had two abnormal smear results and my doctor has sent me to the colposcopy unit at the hospital for a consultation ...i have no idea what is going to happen but i do know that my doc told me it better to send me early than too late ...at this unit at the hosp they may take a biopsy of my cervical cells to see why they abnormal ...you have done the right thing in telling ur friend to try to b calm until the results come through YES YES YES YES YES |
