Pre cervical cancer? |
my doctor said i have pre cervical cancer and to come back in 6 months for a pap smear. He said 80%of the time it will go away on its own. He said to come back in 6 months to see if there is a change. So..... does that mean in 6 months when I go to the doctor they may say I have full blown cancer or am Is it 100% guarantee that i will not have full blown cancer in 6 months, cant they just take it out now, so i dont have to worry. please help I also had abnormal cells from a pap smear a few years ago. I was given the option of "waiting" it out or having cryotherapy done (they use extreme cold to freeze and destroy the abnormal cells). I chose to have the chrotherapy done. Around the same time my niece also had an abnormal pap and she decided to wait. When she went back in 6 months it had cleared on it's own. I think it's pretty common and alot of drs like to "wait" and recheck. I wouldn't panic, but if you're still concerned I would get a second opinion. I went through a similar scenario; the best I can say is try to relax. I know that sounds idiotic right now but worrying is useless. After the 6 month wait I returned to the doctor for a follow-up pap and she recommended a LEEP procedure (out-patient surgery). I don't know if your doctor will do the same but if he does, it's not that bad. The worst part about having the LEEP procedure was the fact that I had to wear feminine napkins for a few weeks afterwards. Good luck to you, and I wish you a clean bill of health. :) |
