Pregnancy and Gardisil (cervical cancer vaccination)? |
I am wondering if anyone KNOWS (not just guesses) whether the Gardisal vaccine has any impact on pregnancy... I mean would it be safe to get pregnant during the course of the 3 injections and of not, how long after the last one do you have to wait No...it doesn't actually apply...thanks for all the info With the rapid-approval process that drugs go through now, there has not been enough research to determine the effects on the mother or the baby if administered during pregnancy or soon before pregnancy. It used to take up to 10 years for drugs to be approved by the FDA. This allowed a decent amount of time for research and observation. Now it takes less than 2 years from making the medication to the time it is approved for use in the general public. I wouldn't get the vaccine if trying to get pregnant. I spoke to my doctor about it and she recommended that I don't get the vaccine if I am actively trying to concieve, so I decided against the vaccine and am now pregnant. So if you are currently undergoing the series of injections for it I would suggest that you wait until you are finished with those before trying to concieve. If you have already started the series I would wait until you finish them to get pregnant. It may only preotect agains a few strains of the virus, but those are the ones that cause cancer. Most strains actually don't cause cancer. I would just wait a couple months until you finish. why even take it? you know 3 girls have died from it?? i took 2 out of 3 injections b4 i got pregnant and never got the 3rd becuz it says i cant while pregnant so now after i gotta re take all of them! Don't get that vaccine. There are over 300 different strains of HPV and that vaccine supposedly only protects you from 4. It says woman who are or plan to get pregnant, shouldnt take gardasil. I am not sure, but i do know its says not to get the shot if you are pregnant. You should ask a doctor. |
