Cervical cancer jab? side effects?

okay. so i have just missed out on getting the cervical cancer jab through school by one year. but i am thinking about getting it done at the doctors or whatever. thing is, is there any side effects or anything? is there like long term effects. because a girl in my class was going on about how she isn't going to get it because there is some side effects, i don't know i wasn't really listening. do you know of any?

All vaccinations carry rare risks, but the benefits outweigh the rare risks, the more common side effects reported with Gardasil are;

Pain, swelling, itching, and redness at the injection site
Fever
Nausea
Dizziness
Vomiting
Fainting

This vaccine is generally very well tolerated; I personally think it's a very important vaccine for all young girls to have.

Yes with regards to one of your friends saying there are risks, as I said above, one has to take into consideration the risk benefit ratio. Unfortunately it's like the whole MMR fiasco all over again, some parents and pupils are simply misinformed regarding the vaccine and are making decisions not to give their children this vaccine based on articles in abhorrent news papers like the Daily Mail etc. Cervical Cancer is a silent cancer, which is on the increase in young women, if there is chance you can save yourself from the pain and sheer misery this cancer would give, I would take it. I personally think parents who are not allowing their children to have this vaccine are doing a very selfish thing.

Im having mine soon.

There are side affects but they aren't long-term;;

* Stinging.
* Finding it hard to breath (Rare)
* Finding it hard to breath could lead to collapsion.

But most probably you will just find it stings...

Hope it goes well..

Best Wishes... Dr.Soph

Yes, there are potential side effects, but benefits as well. Every girl has to decide if she wants to do it for herself.

Read the website for more info about it.

try asking a GP/or nurse, not ppl on here as its all speculation.
