Im Getting the cervical cancer jab soon. What do you think?

Im getting it at school in 2-5 weeks, There is a board at school about it and it said something like 'The affects will soon take in but it's nothing too worry about all you will feel is being drowsy'

I get freaked out as when ever I get terrified I faint, I fainted at the doctors when I was told I had tonsillitas, I fainted when I had braces fitted, I fainted when I went to the dentist and they scaled my teeth.

lol

It is good to have this vaccine because it protects you from getting cancer later on in life. If you didn't know, the NHS funds for operations to remove cancer tumours which isn't good and thats why they are trying to find new ways of preventing things like this for patients later on in life. You might heard of the saying, ''Prevention is cheaper than the cure'' which is true because as you will learn that to prevent cancer being in your body you need an injection, because once you get the cure it will be horrible as you always need to go to the hospital to have chemotherapy, which is bad.

I had the jab the other day but it hurts a little bit as you will feel a little pin prick when the needle goes into your left or right arm. After a few hours you will not be able to move your injected arm as I know this as I am still suffering from the pain on my left arm. if you are left handed as in writing then they will inject in your right arm, or if you are right handed like I am they will inject you in your left arm.

If you feel some aches and pains in your arm where the injection started, then don't worry its normal it will wear off in a few days.

But be warned that this is not a one off injection, there are 3 full doses for it to be a full vaccination, one like you said in 2-5 weeks, 2nd injection in a month of your first injection and 3rd injection 6 months after your 2nd injection.

Don't get it done- I had the choice of getting it done or not and chosed not to get it. If the vaccine company are serious about protecting girls from cervical cancer they should start vaccinating boys as well as both sexes carry the HPV virus. Also as long as you practise safe sex and practise good lifestyle habits you should have nothing to worry about. And even if you do get vaccinated, you have other STDs such as HIV, Hep C and some types of HPV to worry about and you still need to get Pap smears whether you get the vaccine or not. As the vaccine is still new, there could be unknown side effects that could result from it.
The money used to make the vaccine should be spent on more important things like finding an early detection test for ovarian cancer, and other issues that are facing sociecy such as homelessness etc.

鈥?DON'T TAKE IT!! Or you may get cancer it's mass genocide, the vaccine has mercury in it!! Its the 2d most toxic substance on earth. More people get cancer who take the vaccine's, less females get cancer when they do not take the vaccine. In the UK they plan to give every teenage girl free vaccine to supposedly protect them from cervical cancer. Its the same with all vaccines, children's too, can't you see the huge increase in autism and other learning difficulties. Mercury is a deadly toxin and a baby's undeveloped brain has no resistance to the mercury. The same aply's to the flu jab and the Aids vaccine. The government need sick people because that the biggest money making racket after oil and war. More people make money out of cancer that those who die from it. Do your own research on the Internet, goggle dangerous vaccines or view them on you tube.

The idea that HPV causes cervical cancer is just a theory. The only people studying it are those who receive funding from the drug companies. Did you notice the ads that came out about a year before the vaccine? The drug companies were priming the pump. Pay for "research" that finds a link, not a direct cause, and plaster it all over the media, then come charging in with "the cure". I would have thought an RN would know better. How many "free" lunches have you had? Do you want to chance death on the off chance that you may come in contact with one of the 4 out of 70 strains of HPV, and that you will be one of the 10% with the weak immune system that does not fight it. And that out of that 10% you might be one of the few who develop cervical cancer? Thousands have already suffered nasty side effects and it will be years before we know if Gardacil will save even one person. I can see why they want to give it while the victims are still young, dumb, and .

I fully agree with Samurai. Everyone who is getting this vaccine is a guinea pig right now and I'll bet in a few years we will be hearing about all the side effects. I know, I used to work in pharmaceuticals and know how the system works. You can prevent the HPV virus by having safe sex, this vaccine is just a false sense of security. How about HIV and other related STD's, still have to use protection to prevent other diseases.

Aww don't worry too much! The side affect you probably won't even notice it! You might just feel alittle tired but jabs are so easy it's less than 2 seconds, if you're scared of needles don't look, but i love watching.. makes it less painful lol. not that it is it's just a teeny nip but if that hurts then it won't be as painful, lol.
goodluck doll

Ask your physician if he can prescribe you a mild sedative for that day, give him the history of all your episodes of fainting.

Sexually active? go for it!
You would more than faint if you had a sexually transmitted disease or a life threatening one

Having cancer would be far worse than a harmless jab, think about it that way.

just shut your eyes...

DON'T do it if you value your quality of life.
As of August 2007, a review of the National Vaccine Information Center revealed the following, quite alarming, statistic about this unnecessary vaccine: 2,207 adverse reactions to Gardasil have been reported. Among them:

5 girls died
31 were considered life-threatening
1,385 required a visit to the emergency room
451 of the girls have not recovered as of July 2007
51 of the girls were disabled
This vaccine is also the most expensive vaccine on the market, so you can follow the money trail to find out why Merck is now trying to push this cervical cancer vaccine on boys!

Getting the Facts About HPV

Health care officials and the media are portraying Gardasil as the long-awaited cure for cervical cancer, and they鈥檙e telling people that the side effects are minimal.

However, the side effects of this brand-new vaccine are just beginning to surface, and as time goes by, their severity seems to be increasing.

Further, while cervical cancer is a serious issue, it is not the epidemic that the media is portraying it to be.

Of the more than 6 million cases of HPV that occur each year, about 90 percent of them clear up on their own within two years. If you eat right, exercise, and keep stress in your life under control, your immune system should be healthy enough to clear up HPV. Secondly, the vaccine is not fool-proof. You can still get "non-vaccine" types of HPV even if you get vaccinated.

Finally, remember that HPV is a sexually transmitted disease, which means that it is nearly 100 percent avoidable by modifying your lifestyle habits.

It's a very good idea to have this vaccine. The vaccine will offer you 70% protection against the type of HPV virus that has a direct link with Cervical Cancer. The data sheet for this vaccine says the licence has been given for use on girls ages between 9-26 of age. If there is a chance you can save yourself from the pain and sheer misery this cancer would give, I would take it
The vaccine is at first being offered to year 8 students (12/13 year olds) but eventually the aim is to make this vaccine available to all young girls/women. Gardasil is more effective when given before one becomes sexually active and comes into any contact with HPV Types 6, 11, 16, and 18.
Have a chat with your GP if you have concerns.

ALL vaccines carry rare risks, but simply, the benefits of this vaccine outweigh the rare risks. Cervical Cancer is a silent cancer and currently kills up to 400 young women a year in the UK. This is not a pleasant death. This vaccine is generally tolerated very well, with only mild MINOR side effects being reported

Just have to say to yourself, the quick sting of the needle is nothing compared to the pain of cervical cancer. There is a limitation to how much an injection can hurt, it really can't! It's all over very quickly.

Samurai
It does not matter how many partners you have, studies have shown, that by the time we all reach late adulthood, 80% of us are carriers of the virus anyway. This vaccine will save a lot of pain and misery. This silly attitude from the anti vaccincation brigade is merely causing more stress to young people and their parents who are reading your inaccurate poppycock (I wanted to say BS but I was told off yesterday for using bad language!)
