Arm against cervical cancer vaccine?

my daughter gor a letter about this from school

she is 13 do we get it done

there is a web site www.immunisation.nhs.uk/hpv

i know my answer is yes but wot if my daugher does not wanna get it done ?

At 13 years I am afraid your daughter is not in any way capable of making a decision of this magnitude, this is one of the reasons, as a hopefully responsible adult, that it is still very much, your job, duty and responsibility to make they for her. This is true both in law, and for common sense reasons.

I hope the uptake is 100%! Better a tiny sting that a painful, prolonged death from cervical cancer.

There are 400 deaths a year due to cervical cancer and the current vaccine will prevent 70% of them.I have seen a few, youngish, otherwise healthy women die in great pain despite all out efforts to ease their suffering, those I have seen were amongst the worst deaths ever. The individuals were all between 25 and 35 and otherwise healthy. This meant they had perfect hearts and lungs and survived for long periods despite widespread disease, these deaths were so bad that I can remember all of them! Don't be foolish, do what is your duty as a mum, you must insist that she has the the jab, and if necessary explain why!

This question has recently become relatively common on Answers, mainly asked by young girls afraid of injections, and is a very serious issue.

if she does not want it so be it. But in this day and age quite honestly i would get it done and sit down with her and explain it as best you can why you think it important. If you can't do it, ask the GP
