Girls aged 12/13 are you going to get the cervical cancer shot?

I know it's not compulsary but do you want it??
I'm 13 but terrified of needles.
me and my friends have all been told we don't have to have it but we can if we want as it is free here.

The minuscule 'pin prick' of a needle is nothing compared to the pain and misery of cervical cancer. Enough said.

I hope the uptake is 100%! Better a tiny sting that a painful, prolonged death from cervical cancer. I have seen a few, youngish, otherwise healthy women died in great pain despite all out efforts to ease their suffering. Don't be a wimp or a fool, have the jab!

( Well said Rhianna, as a hospital nurse these days most patients are quite rightly sent home to be with their loved ones when they get terminal cancer. 30 years ago most were sent in to hospital to die. I don't know if you have ever seen a cervical cancer death, but those I have seen were amongst the worst deaths. The individuals were all between 25 and 35 and otherwise healthy. This meant they had perfect hearts and lungs and survived for long periods despite widespread disease, these deaths were so bad that I can remember all of them!)

Im 16, so it available for me to get it in school if I want it. Which I do.
I hate needles too - I don't think anybody likes them. But if I'm perfectly honest, I would be more scared of getting cervial cancer than of the tiny little jab that you get. We are getting the chance to protect ourselves - and I would take that chance. If you don't then you are still at high risk of getting the cancer. I know its hard, but try if you can try to face up to your fears- it will take a huge load off your mind. I think you should go for it- although thats just my opinion.

I'm definitely getting it because just a few minutes of pain is completely different from having the cancer. I was unsure at first but then the school nurse talked to us about it and she said that many of her friends have been diagnosed with cervical cancer and they would have done anything to go back and get the jag.

my sister is 13 and she is in the same situation she really really dont want it but she is having it no matter what. What is a little pain compared to death and losing your chance of having a baby. I couldnt watch my sister die because she refused something amazing could stop her from getting. I bet the people that have had or have cervical cancer wish they had the oppurtunity and chance you have. It could change and save someones life i dont expect anyone to turn down this gift.

well think it as either a set of needles or cancer risking your life? i know which one id go for!!

i know needles are very scary but you know what nurses are like these days and believe me they will do it so you wont feel a thing.

I bet it wont even hurt, compared to getting cancer I'd definitely prefer getting the jag!!! Look at Jade Goodey right now, shes got cervical cancer and shes devistated

I'm absolutely terrified of needles too, but I think I want it. I can't have it though cause I'm 16 lol. Think of how many needles you'd have to have if you actually got cervical cancer!

a shot to prevent cervical cancer thats free is invaluable.

i'm too old to have it (17) but if i could i would. the alternative is smear tests every 5 years. it's up to you though.

if you are talking about the gardasil shot i think you and your mom should research the dangers or gardasil bc i had a mini stoke and seizures and at least 5000 others have gone though similar or worse things including death gl

It's fine doesn't hurt at all, your arm might hurt for a few days after but nothing major. I'd say go for it :)

my daughter is 12 she came home from school tonight with the consent form.We both agree this is a good thing and she is getting the shot.

my mum died of that cancer. so annoying how they invented the vaccine now and not 3 years ago.
