How comes the Cervical Cancer Jab is only being offered to year 8 girls?

Im 19, i want it lol :(
I mean won't it save MORE lives if they give to MORE people or is this yet another thing to do with money etc? I pay tax and national insurance like everybody else for Christ's sake!

In the United States, you can get the vaccine up into your 20s. It is most effective if you get it BEFORE you become sexually active, because it won't treat any prior/current infections of HPV (which can lead to cervical cancer). I'm 24 and my gynecologist suggested that I get it. You may want to call some health centers and see what they offer.

well i'm in yr 8 and i have to have it!
im terrified! i hate injections!
but i know its a great opetunity so im gonna try and be brave.
i agree. everyone should be able to have it!
why just yr 8?
it would save alot more lives if it were avalible to everyone.

because it is only effective if you get it before you have sex. Girls in yr 8 are not likely to have had it yet, although seeing some young girls around today I do wonder!
