Is cervical cancer vaccine effective? |
Is it really necessary to have a shot with this? My OB is offering me to give me a shot but it is quite out of my budget so I just wonder if it is really effective. There are some vaccines that a friend of mine told me that is not necessary, only commercialized and also just for profit. Hi, Definitely actually beneficial. The vaccine protects against four strains of HPV, two of which cause most cases of cervical cancer, and two of which cause 90% of genital warts. While it's true a woman's likelihood of getting cervical cancer is not terribly high, the cost of the vaccine is minute in comparison to the costs associated with getting cancer. Not just monetary, but physical, emotional, and overall health costs. Cervical cancer has become largely preventable, and prevention is certainly worth the cost. |
