Cervical Cancer in the UK? |
I know probably a few people have mentioned this but in the UK, the age to have a smear test changed to 25+ in 2003. I'm 18 and think this law is a very stupid idea! There have been a few cases found that some women are under the age of 25 when they die of the cancer. Should they not offer this smear test to girls who are sexually active? I had a baby 5 months ago and whilst i was pregnant my midwife asked me if iv'e had a smear test before? I answered no obviously and she advised after having the baby to have one done, knowing full well i was 18 at the time. you would think after jade goody they would of lowered the Limit i thought they had lowered it again? i think its a disgrace, you really need to go to a different doctors surgery or a family planning clinic instead and demand a smear test, NO ONE should be refused a smear unless its for good reason. shouldnt they have done a smear test before you had the baby? i thought they did this?im in scotland and we are automatically invited for a smear at 20. everywhere should be the same. |
