Im newely diagnosed with cervical cancer?

Newely diagnosed with cervical cancer stage 1 .Having a lapwndectomy followed by oral chemo and chemo by injection at home?im really nervous,what should I expect from chemo.ive been told of fatigue an nausea an hair loss.i have a toddler at home help

A lapendectomy is where they remove portion of cervix.i have been told I will be taking Xeloda.i am also Diabetic with a thyroid condition so I know my method of treatment is different.I was simply asking about the physical side effects of chemo sorry if it confused anyone!

I was diagnosed with cervical cancer a year ago and had a hysterectomy and my oncologist sended me to have radiology for 25 days and after 6 months I had another cancer test and I was clean. This wasn't a bad treatment and I thank God everyday that this helped me to fight cancer and to help other cancer patients. As my cancer was also only the 1st stage I didn't need to go for chemotherapy!
Go and see your oncologist and be strong and keep on praying as I will be praying for you as well.

Good that your cancer has been detected at an early stage so it is quite curable. Consult a good oncologist and he will decide on further course for the treatment whether to go for chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery.

What is a lapwndectomy?
There is no way to answer you as this is not typical treatment for your disease and there is no way of knowing what drugs you will be on.

I had cervical cancer but all they did was cone my cervix and that was the end of it. I've had chemo twice for other cancers and never lost my hair (only a small bit, hardly noticeable). Good luck to you.

Cervical cancer is the cancer of cervix, the mouth of the uterus. Here is some useful information about cervical cancer symptoms and treatment. The lowest narrow end of the uterus is known as cervix. Generally cancer is caused by a genetic mutation in the healthy cells. Cervical cancer mostly starts in the flat, thin squamous cells of cervix. Squamous cell carcinoma is responsible for about 80% of cervical cancers. Cervical cancer may also occur in the glandular cells of cervix. Adenocarcinomas account for about 15% of cervical cancers. Abnormal changes in the cervical tissues are associated with certain factors such as previous infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), multiple sexual partners, early sexual contact, oral contraceptives and smoking. HPV infection is the major risk factor for cervical cancer. Some other risk factors are weak immune system and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) such as syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia or HIV/AIDS. Cervical Cancer Symptoms

There may not be noticeable cervical cancer symptoms, until it is progressed to a dangerous stage. Some of the common symptoms of cervical cancer are:

The cervical cells in precancerous stage can be detected through abnormal Pap smear test. HPV screening test is another test to determine the HPV infection. Diagnosis of cervical cancer is done on the basis of colposcopy, biopsy and cone biopsy.

If you are diagnosed with cervical cancer, then staging of cancer is extremely important in order to decide the treatment plan. Staging is done on the basis of imaging tests such as X-rays, MRI scan and CT scan and visual examination of bladder (cytoscopy) and rectum (proctoscopy).

Cervical Cancer Treatment

In case of limited, noninvasive cancer, the treatment focuses on removing the abnormal area of cervical cells. Noninvasive cancer can be removed by cone biopsy, laser surgery, hysterectomy, cryosurgery and Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). No additional treatment is required for most women.

In case of invasive cancer, more extensive treatment is needed. Cervical cancer treatment depends on various factors such as stage of the cancer, other health problems and patient's own preference. Different treatment options are hysterectomy, radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

You can minimize the risk of cervical cancer by taking some preventive measures. First, you should prevent the HPV infection, by avoiding contact with an infected person.
