Does Pap Smear only determine pre or cervical Cancer?

than what is the other examination called which tells you if you have any vaginal infection? cause it is tested same way right? reason I am asking I am not from US I live in post soviet union and Gynecologist did check me and I have some Vaginal Becteriosis but does it mean they did Pap smear too? when they took this test? cause I went on google and I saw pictures and it is done same way.
