Cervical Cancer? |
My sister had cervical cancer (from the Human Paploma (sp?) Virus). She had a cone biopsy done and had a hysterectomy. What are the chances of the cancer returning? That depends on what the pathology report said after hysterectomy. Was the resection margins preserved? Where there lymph node metastasis? The chances for the above are slim, if they are not present, it is VERY unlikely, that cervical cancer will pop up again. By the way, it is Human papilloma virus I think she should be okay. I haven't heard of cancer popping up elsewhere from cervical cancer when a hystorectomy has taken place. Good luck to your sis! as long as it hasnt metastasized to other organs yet and its at a low stage where the cancer is localized at the cervix only..the chances of it recurring is pretty slim. |
