Cervical Cancer?

I am going to get my first pelvic exam at age 20, I have had two sexual parteners, my first being at age 16, I have had both protected and unprotected sex in these long term relationships. I was just wondering what are the odds of someone my age and past of getting cervical cancer? And does protected and unprotected sex make a difference?

Ok, I just found out yesterday that I am positive for HPV virus, which is essentially a virus that causes genital warts (which I have not had; sometimes no symptoms are evident). I believe I contracted this virus when I was 15 (I'm 25 now) from my first sexual partner. This virus, if you contract the High-Risk strain (which I have), CAN possibly lead to cervical cancer in the future. However, if a close eye is kept on it you should be okay. When you get your pap, make sure to ask for the HPV test too. If it comes up negative, there is even a vaccine available for it now, so you can get that to prevent any future problems. Be sure to ONLY have protected sex in the future, there are just too many scary things out there that you can get.

Yes, you can get cervical cancer, and it can be contracted by having unprotected sex. It's caused by HPV (a sexually transmitted disease), and although it doesn't always cause cancer, it does in some cases. Your doctor will do a pap smear to look for abnormalities on your cervix. Let her know your concerns, and she may do more tests to make certain.

but yes, sex at an early age as well as having multiple partners and unprotected sex can factor in. sexually transmitted disease can also up your chances of cervical cancer.

you will just have to find out from the doctor but at your age you are probably okay

although before the actual cancer there are stages of I had a stage 4 which is just before cancer I had it removed and have had no problems since

Sex makes a difference. Just having it puts you at risk (scary eh?) HPV is said to be a big contributor to cervical cancer. But any dis-ease in that area weakens it for cancerous invasion. I had cervical cancer, and no HPV, and live very healthy, so don't think you are safe just because of that. (Not trying to scare you but..) Emotional problems (deep set grief, loss) also contribute to cancer, as any alternative medical practitioner will tell you. You should try to be protected as much as you can, long term tho' and informed...? Well it's up to you.
