Cervical cancer? |
My friends grandmother was diagnosed a year ago with cervical cancer now her mom got diagnosed like months ago....she is too scared to go the dr. she's 20 and married....so shes sexually active..i told her that she needs to get check....she has never had a pap done.... My question...what are the chances because of the last two generations that she might get it? Please make her do to the doc. I just recently found out that I had HPV and if I would have waited any longer it could have turned into cervical cancer. If you have HPV and get it treated it should not effect your fertility, however cervical cancer certainly will. I definitely think sh has a much higher chance of getting it because of her family history. My doc said that there was no documentation that it was genetic however; my mother and sister both had it. I can't give you percentages, but your friend needs to get a pap smear asap. Wouldn't it be more scary to have cancer and wait till it's too late? There is a good chance since they have found that some aspects of the suseptability of cancers are genetically linked. There is also a demographic aspect, and maybe where that live, there is a higher prevalence of HPV strands that can cause it. There are many factors that go into it. Long story short, she have a higher chance but its not something that can be numerically represented. there is a highly likely chance, however I would suggest that she goes to see a Dr. because there are several preventive measures for people who have not yet been diagnosed and treatments for those with early stages. |
