Cervical cancer? |
If there are no signs and symptoms of cervical cancer until it has spread to far and you had a hysterectomy so yearly paps wont help much, how do you know if you have cervical cancer before its to late? Who told you yearly paps won't help much? Completely untrue. Between having a normal cervix & having cervical cancer there is a middle stage called "cervical dysplasia". A pap can detect if you have developed cervical dysplasia & then steps may be taken to prevent cervical cancer. Because of the pap test - cervical cancer is the least common of all gynecologic cancers. Also, avoid unprotected sex. Cervical cancer is cause by a virus called HPV(types 16,18) which is spread by intercourse. If you don't have HPV - you most likely won't have cervical cancer. i agree with you, it doesnt just come from hpv. i was tested for hpv i dont know how many times and they have told me every time your cancer didnt come from hpv, mine started as mild cervical dysplacia, im in my first stage of cancer There is a special test for cervical cancer, besides PAP. Ask your gynecologist. You are right - this can be a scary alert. But there is a test for cervical CA - The name starts with CA plus a number I can't remember but check out Web MD -I am sure it's on there www.webmd.com |
