Can cervical cancer be genetic??what are the signs and symptoms? I found this website that says they are finding a link to genetics... but it is mostly caused by a virus that now has a vaccine to it, the human papillomavirus (HPV.) Symptoms Most ot the time, early cervical cancer has no symptoms. Symptoms that may occur can include: Continuous vaginal discharge, which may be pale, watery, pink, brown, bloody, or foul-smelling Abnormal vaginal bleeding between periods, after intercourse, or after menopause Periods become heavier and last longer than usual Symptoms of advanced cervical cancer may include: Loss of appetite Weight loss Fatigue Pelvic pain Back pain Leg pain Single swollen leg Heavy bleeding from the vagina Leaking of urine or feces from the vagina Bone fractures Source(s): http://www.cancer.org/docroot/nws/conten... http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/print... There is some evidence that the tendency to develop cancer is partially genetic. Cancer itself is not genetic. Go to the internet for the symptoms of cervical cancer - type "cervical cancer symptoms" in your search engine box. Cervical cancer is thought to be caused by HPV-- which is transferred sexually (among other STDs). Since it usually takes years for it to develop; until it is full blown, the symptoms are nonspecific and minor-- not very obvious at all. All that to say, screening is the only good chance to catch it early... later signs/symptoms *bleeding (not common) *discharge (common) *pain is not a symptom |
