No Women sometimes have a hysterectomy for cervical cancer. In a total hysterectomy, the cervix is taken out and there is usually no cervix left for a cancer to grow in. However, there is an operation called a subtotal hysterectomy where most of the uterus is removed and a small bit of cervix is left behind. Cervical cancer can form in this remnant of cervix - usually at rates equal to the normal population incidence. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cervical_ca... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/hysterectom... take a look at www.jotrust.co.uk a cervical cancer awareness site will tell you all you need to know. |
