Is cervical cancer always caused by the Human Papiloma Virus? |
About 2 months ago during a prenatal visit my ob/gyn told me i have stage 1 precancer to the cervix. Ive heard that this is usually because of HPV but ive always gone to the ob/gyn every six months and never told I had an STD. Did the doctors mess up somewhere and now im screwed or could I have not gotton it from HPV? yes, it is always caused by HPV, but that doesn't mean that an STD would have shown up before now. HPV can be dormant for many years, I am not sure what triggers it, but according to some docs you could have had it for 10 years or more....do not worry yourself over this, it is very treatable...usually with a laser procedure called a Leep. It's not your doctor's fault that you were never told you had a std. Pap smears test for abnormal cells in the cervix, not for std's...those are tests you have to ask for. If you have an abnormal pap smear, then they would test for hpv. Don't be alarmed by having HPV...about 90% of people that have ever had sex have it, it just is dormant in some people's bodies. It's a VERY common thing. no ma'am it is true that HPV cause cervical carcinoma, About 70 virotypes have been identified for HPV. About 23 affect the cervix and genital tract and currently the types documented as conferring a higher risk of cervical cancer include: 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, and 68. Types 6 and 11 are associated with condyloma and are not thought to be oncogenic. Type 16 is found in about half of all cervical cancer cases in the US and Europe. The cause of cervical cancer is determined to be HPV generating early changes of cervical dysplasia. HPV is the number one reason for abnormal cells of the cervix. The HPV virus is a skin virus, which results in warts, common warts, flat warts, genital warts, and plantar warts. It is also the source from which dysplastic cells, or abnormal cells form in the cervix. The cause of cervical cancer is determined to be HPV generating early changes of cervical dysplasia if it is in 1st grade then take proper medication and if possible take alternative treatment for that i am homeopathic physician from India u are always welcome to discuss any thing i have a good solution for that but require full medical history take care regards Dr. Deepak Sharma HPV is not the only way you can have cerivcal cancer.
